Life
on the stations of the NWT & Y Radio System was mostly a daily
routine of passing messages for the mining and transportation companies,
for the trappers, traders, miners, governments officials and oridinary
citizens of these isolated communities, and providing ground-to-air
control and relay for aircraft. However, occasionally something out
of the ordinary would occur that interrupted their daily routine,
gave them extra work and responsibilities, celebrated special events,
and heralded triumph and tragedy, and stand today as significant markers
in the 36-year history of the System.
          The
following links will take you to accounts of some of these events.
If anyone can provide additional details to these stories, or illuminate
some other significant events, we would be most pleased to include
them in this history. Please contact us.
